This month is the official reading month, and our Game of The Month is Teppo Manninen's French Revolution. This game combines gameworld and real world, encourages to reading and learning history.
Teppo quite literally takes his students in the middle of the French Revolution by using visual elements in the form of video clips from Assassins' Creed game, pictures of paintings and famous French celebs from the 18th century. In his exercises he also invites the students to relive the events and imagine what it was like.
The students are part of the French revolution, overlooking the revolting people, making discoveries and connections to modern day and analyzing the events. All this, while they actually learn text-book-stuff about history behind the events. Super cool!
The game is available in Finnish with the name 'Ranskan vallankumous', but you'll get a taster from the few translated exercises here. Even if you're not a history teacher, a big recommendation to download this game. Use Google Translate to get the full experience. You'll get a ton of ideas to your own games from this one!
Keep up the great work, Teppo. You're a Seppo hero! <3
