Accessibility statement
Accessibility in Seppo
The accessibility of Seppo games is described in our accessibility statement. The platform is continuously being developed to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements. We are currently improving browser play accessibility features, and the statement will be updated later this year to reflect these changes.
For the best experience when using screen readers and keyboard navigation, we recommend playing Seppo games on a desktop or laptop computer using the Google Chrome browser.
Creating accessible content
When designing exercises and learning content in Seppo, it’s important to consider accessibility so that all players can participate equally. Here are key guidelines to follow:
-
Use Enter to separate paragraphs.
-
Avoid using Shift + Enter to add empty lines between paragraphs. Screen readers may interpret these as pauses or ”blank” content.
-
Similarly, don’t add extra empty lines before or after images, videos, or audio clips.
-
Do not add images that contain text, such as screenshots or photographs of written material.
-
Instead, use the exercise editor to enter the text directly. This ensures assistive technologies like screen readers and zoom tools can access the content.
-
If you use a time limit in exercises, consider its impact:
-
Players cannot pause or extend the time.
-
This may disadvantage users who need more time to read or respond.
-
-
You can advise players to ask for more time using the in-game chat, if needed.
-
The Match Pairs activity type is currently difficult to use with screen readers.
-
Please consider this before including it in your game.
-
We are actively working to make this exercise type more screen reader friendly in the future.
- Avoid using colour alone to communicate information.
-
Some users may have difficulty distinguishing colours (e.g., colour blindness), so always include additional visual cues such as:
-
Text labels
-
Icons
-
Textures or patterns (e.g., in infographics or maps)
-
