Seppo guide

In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to use Seppo effectively and make the most out of its features.

Evaluating answers and reviewing progress

How do I evaluate answers and review player progress?

A key part of playing a Seppo game is tracking player progress and evaluating their answers. Automatic evaluation can be set to each Seppo task type, but Creative tasks are evaluated manually by the instructor by default. The evaluation and reviewing is done in the Play tab of the game editor, taking place in the left-side panel.

Instructors can switch between the Players and Tasks tabs to:

  • Review individual player answers in the Players tab
  • Inspect answers to specific tasks in the Tasks tab

This structured approach makes it easy to monitor performance and provide feedback efficiently.

Tasks tab

The Tasks tab is active by default in the Play tab. Here, you can review answers for individual tasks. The tasks are displayed in the left-side panel, with each task card showing:

  • Task name
  • A blue “Review” pill, indicating the task has answers that need evaluation
  • A counter displaying how many answers have been evaluated out of the total answers
  • The maximum point value for the task

By clicking on a task card, a detailed panel opens showing players who have answered the task, along with which responses still require evaluation. At the top of the panel, the instructor has the option to close the task for the players by disabling the “Accepting answers” toggle. Additionally, answers can be sorted using a drop-down menu for better organization.

Clicking on a player’s answer card opens a third panel, where you can evaluate their response. Below the answer, you can assign a point value and provide written feedback. You can also include images, links, emojis, and formatting in your feedback. Once you’re finished, click the “Evaluate” button at the bottom to save your evaluation. After evaluation, the task will assume the “Evaluated” status in the middle panel.

Players tab

Answers can also be evaluated in the Players tab, which displays the progress of individual players. In the left-side panel, each player card shows the following information:

  • Player name
  • Total points acquired by the player
  • A counter showing the number of completed tasks out of the total tasks
  • The number of badges earned (if badges are enabled in the game)

Clicking on a player card opens a panel displaying all answers submitted by the selected player. In this panel, you can see which answers have been evaluated and which still require evaluation. The player’s answers can be sorted using a drop-down menu, just like in the Tasks tab.

Clicking a task card opens a third panel for evaluation. Below the player’s answer, you can assign points and provide feedback, including images, links, emojis, and formatting. Once done, click the “Evaluate” button to save. After evaluation, the task will show as “Evaluated” in the middle panel.
